It seems as though the shit is really hitting the fan in my little community in west Wales; quite literally. This time it's irresponsible dog owners and dog-poo on the streets that everybody is up in arms about. Being a dog owner I will admit that there is nothing worse and a good, squelchy foot-full of the stuff, but I think that these people doing the whinging are all slightly missing the point.
When I was a child growing up in east Wales there was never any problem with dog-poo littering the streets; not because dog owners were any more or any less responsible than they are now; but because there were individuals in the pay of the council who would sweep the streets on a daily basis.
Rather than getting all neurotic and hiding behind one's net curtains with a digital camera ready to pounce upon the first poor soul to happen past who has the audacity to own a dog and even goes to the point of exercising it, wouldn't it be wiser to petition the county council and find out when our streets ceased to be swedt and why.
Our council tax is going up year on year but it seems that the only time the streets in my village are swept is in the autumn because the county council don't want leaves clogging up the drains; presumab
